A True Lattimore Success Story

Lattimore Physical Therapist, David stretching out patient’s back

A part of the Lattimore Way is to make our patient’s therapy something that they look forward to each and every visit. We are so proud of all of our patients who have worked hard to achieve their physical therapy goals and reach success. Take a look at one of our patient’s Lattimore success stories.

Antonia made her way to Lattimore of Honeoye Falls-Lima in June of 2018 after shattering her femur (thigh bone) in a car accident. While at our HF-L clinic Antonia worked with Lattimore PT co-owner Dave Monsees.

Dave began outlining Antonia’s story by stating “when Antonia began she was unable to put full weight on her leg let alone walk any distance.  Through almost a year of physical therapy sessions she has regained full range of motion and improved the overall function of her leg. She has come so far that she has returned to work full time and is going on walks of up to a couple of miles at a time.”

Antonia despite all the obstacles she has to come thoroughly enjoyed the healing atmosphere that was evident on a daily basis in the HFL clinic.  She stated “Dave and the HFL Lattimore team made PT fun for me. That’s the truth! For a very, very, long time going to PT was the only thing I would or could do during the day.”  She noted at first being slightly confused by the friendly atmosphere in that she thought that there were patients not being treated or doing any exercises – after a few visits she found out these were all former patients who used Lattimore of HFL as their own personal coffee shop to get together and visit.   “Later on, I found out those gentlemen were former patients that wanted to come back and to hang out. That in itself, says a huge amount about how warm an environment at Lattimore of HFL.”

She credits Dave knowledge and bedside manner for her drastic recovery stating “I was gently and politely pushed to go above and beyond what I thought I could do. I always understood why I was doing each exercise and I liked that”

In addition to the friendly feel – using laughter as medicine had a huge impact on her recover “I have never laughed as much. Sometimes, before I even got in the door!”

Lattimore Employees dressed as Golden Girls

Antonia admitted to rescheduling sessions, so she would have to come in on Halloween stating “there was no way I was going to miss seeing Dave, Nina, Brian and Laurie dress up like the Golden Girls!”

While Antonia’s journey is drastic in the amount that she had to overcome and the severity of her injuries, her memories of her time at our HFL clinic is representative of The Lattimore Way.  It is our goal that each patient feels like they are coming into a familiar and friendly place when they set foot in any one of our 25 clinics. Whether they are able to get a laugh at our Halloween costumes or just need a gentle nudge to attempt to do an exercise they didn’t think they could care with a smile and the warm, caring environment is what we hope all patients remember when they choose Lattimore and that this keeps them coming back whenever they are in need of physical therapy treatment.
